5K Run Adam Culp Race Race Report Running

Susan G. Komen 5K completed

Well, the race is past and I didn’t do too bad.  I placed 31st in my age group of 117 participants, and 391 out of 2,922 overall participants.  My final time was 24:12. Click here to see the complete race results.

It was a very cold day, for South Florida, and my lungs ache from breathing hard during the race.  Otherwise it felt great to race for the first time since high school more than 20 years ago.

I feel fueled by this pretty decent race and have decided that I wanted more fun.  I will continue training and will find more races in the future.

5K Run Adam Culp Running training

Time to train for my first race in a long time, a 5K run.

It came to my attention that others in the company I worked for were going to participate in a 5K Susan G. Komen race in West Palm Beach on January 31st.  I was feeling pretty good, and decided that with a month and a half to train I would like to run it also since it was only 3.1 miles.  Surely I could do that, after all I already run 3 miles for some workouts.  This will be just like another workout, but with hundreds of other people.

Found out that even though I can still register for the race it is too late for me to be considered on the same team as my co-workers.  Oh well, I will still go and have some fun.
