Week 17, 2011 training summary

The hips just were not going to heal up if I kept running like I did last week, so this week I took a little break.  I still managed to get some miles in at a very slow pace though.  I am realizing that most of my recent troubles are due to a very weak core, so I will be looking for a way to fix that.

Week 16, 2011 training summary

Not a bad week.  Hips really hurt, but the slower pace helped. (Tuesdays faster pace should never have happened, but I paid for it.)   Went to judo a few times this week due to excitement after the clinic, but didn’t do much because of the hips.

Week 15, 2011 training summary

What a tough week.  I had so much work to do it was impossible to get any “me” time for runs.  However, I did get things done in time for a judo clinic on Saturday and Sunday where I managed to injure my hips pretty seriously.  I guess I will be running less, and slower, for awhile.  On Sunday evening I did get in a swim.

Week 14, 2011 training summary

Well, after a few days of getting that terrible MiO out of my system (see last weeks post) I am finally feeling better and could really start to run at normal speed again, even in the 86 degree temps we have had in Florida lately.  This week felt much better, and my speed is starting to climb again.

I tried something new this week.  While the family and I were at the beach over the weekend I decided to try a bit of swimming in the ocean.  Nothing too grand, but I did get in about 200 meters.  You tri people out there please don’t laugh…200 meters, while not super tough, was more challenging than I thought in the ocean.

Week 13, 2011 training summary

Very tough week.  I was trying a new drink called MiO.  DO NOT TRY IT!!!  After 3 days of drinking it I went on a hot 14 miler on Wednesday and thought I was going to die. (yes, really) Not only did it super dehydrate me, but I also had a headache, unstable heart rate, and was completely drained.  I repeat…DO NOT DRINK MiO.  It uses Splenda as its sweetener, so had zero calories.  However, I have done some research and found that Splenda has had practically no testing done on it. (maybe only 9, compared to thousands for sugar)  And ZERO of those tests were done for long term affects.  I also found that this stuff actually just sits in your organs (liver, kidney, etc.) until your body finally cleans it out.  BAD STUFF!!!
